Welcome to my website.
I’ve been a Graphic Designer all of my life, in fact, you could say I was born with a crayola crayon in my hand. When I was a little girl I was given complete creative freedom in and around the house. I must admit I wouldn’t let my daughter do some of the things that I did to my room, like painting large flowers on the wall and stripes on the ceiling. So thanks to my Mom and Dad for encouraging the artist that I am today.
After a year at the University of Denver, I couldn’t wait to get back to Rhode Island. Fortunately I did, because I met my husband, the best thing that ever happened to me, at Rhode Island College in 1982. He was finishing up his masters in painting, so you can bet our daughter is also a very creative individual. Blake uses her creative DNA as an architect in Portland, OR.
After over 30 years in the business of digital design, I still get excited at the process of creating. I started my career working in design studios and advertising agencies, and then moved “in house” to work in corporate marketing departments. From the design studios I learned how to open up the creative mind, and from the corporate environment I learned how to reign it back in and stick to a style guide! From these experiences I bring my clients the best of both worlds.
I went back to school at age 47 to learn web design and development. It was mostly html at that time, and I have since moved to building websites in WordPress. But html skills are still needed for customizing sites.
My clients know they will always get more than they ask for when I am working for them. I am a designer first, and I never take shortcuts to find the best solutions to their graphic needs. I specialize in colorful vibrant designs with a lot of personality. Being a master in Photoshop gives me an advantage. I create designs that are custom and never have that stock image look.
There are so many things I love about being self employed. The world has opened up for me since I have embraced the freelance life. Each client is unique, and I love learning about their business and how they make it all work. Many of my clients are also self employed, and we share a bond of being passionate about what we do. Whatever it takes to get the job done and make sure the client is satisfied, and we couldn’t cut corners if we tried!
